Sevastopol High School

Two eight-run innings lead Sevastopol baseball to shortened win

After a slow start in the first inning, Sevastopol turned on the offense in a big way, capitalizing on nine free passes late in the inning and five Shiocton errors. The Pioneers would add another run in the fourth, needing just five innings to take a 17-7 win.

Sevastopol capitalized on seven hits and a flurry of extra opportunities from the Chiefs in the second and third inning to pull ahead in a big way. On the bump and earning the win was Andrew Wiesner who helped his own cause by both driving in and scoring a run.

Center fielder Bo Tanck finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs and a run scored. He also came on in relief of Wiesner in the fourth allowing a hit and three runs, one earned, while striking out two.

Chase Haberli and Nolan Schultz took the last inning for the Pioneers and combined for the save.

Sevastopol earns their first win of the season and will rally the troops again Saturday for a date with Roncalli starting at 11 a.m.
