Defense paves the way for Sevastopol girls

It's now a 2-0 start in conference play for the Pioneers (2-1) after a 35-19 win over Sturgeon Bay where the team collected 20 steals.

While Sevastopol didn't score often, they made the most of the extra opportunities given to them from their strong defense and converted offensively just enough.

Sienna Cain led on both sides of the ball putting up 15 points while grabbing 8 steals. She had strong support from Braelyn Staats who had 7 points paired with 8 rebounds.

The Pioneers will be back at home Monday to face Two Rivers at 7 p.m. meanwhile Sturgeon Bay will face Elkhart Lake Saturday Dec. 6 at 12:30 p.m. in a quick turnaround.
