Sevastopol came up just short in a 30-28 loss to Algoma on Friday night in a matchup that went down to the wire.
Quarterback Logan Schuh opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run on the Pioneers’ first drive, but Algoma responded with two quick scores and a 14-6 lead after one quarter.
Schuh tied the game at 14 early in the second and then a 66-yard punt return touchdown from Bo Tanck swung momentum back to Sevastopol, giving them a 22-14 halftime lead.
The Wolves rallied in the second half with a pair of scores and late in the fourth quarter with two minutes remaining went up 30-22.
In the final minute, Schuh gave Sevastopol life capping a 54-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion to tie was stopped, sealing the narrow defeat.
Schuh finished with 197 rushing yards, 79 passing yards and three total touchdowns, while Tanck added his punt return score.
