The Sevastopol Pioneers snapped a five-year skid in the Packerland Conference by knocking off the NEW Lutheran Blazers 63-53. After a closely played first half that had the Blazers leading 32-30, the Pioneers outscored NEW Lutheran 33-21 to snap their 68-game losing streak in conference play.
Zaul Valdivia paced the Pioneers with 15 points and four three-pointers in the win. Logan Schuh added 14 more points, and Lucas Delsart chipped in nine points off the bench.
The last victory in conference play for the Pioneers before Tuesday night was against the Blazers five years ago.
Sevastopol (1-4, 5-5 overall) will play home to the Gibraltar Vikings in a big rivalry game on Thursday night.
