Rikkola five points away from record after Pioneers win

A longtime school record is set to fall on Saturday night after Naomi Rikkola and the Sevastopol Pioneers thrashed Two Rivers 74-32 on Thursday night.

Rikkola scored 14 of her 19 points in the first half, helping the Pioneers take a 37-15 lead into the locker room. That output allowed Rikkola to pass her big sister Bailey in the all-time scoring list at the break. She was one of three Pioneers to score 15 or more points in the contest, with her sister Sadie adding 16 points and Kayla Ranly registering a game-high 21 points. Ella Volkmann and Sienna Cain added five points, while three others chipped in a pair. Kaylee Jensen was the only Raiders player to give the Pioneers' defense fits, scoring a team-high 19 points in the loss.

With 1,319 points, Rikkola needs four points to tie and five points to pass Michele Bushman. She will get her opportunity on Saturday when the Pioneers host the Blazers at 2 p.m.
