Sevastopol, Gibraltar look for first conference win on 105.1 The GOAT

More than just bragging rights are at stake on Tuesday night when Gibraltar and Sevastopol meet for the first time this season in Institute.

Both teams are searching for win number two and their first Packerland Conference victory of the 2023-2024 campaign. Sevastopol head coach Kyle Luedtke says he has been working on changing the team's culture after several losing seasons in recent years. In their last game, the Algoma Wolves led from start to finish Thursday night, defeating the Pioneers 54-40 at Fulwiler Fieldhouse. The Pioneers would cut the lead to 11 points early in the second half, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the way. Frankie De Young paced Sevastopol with 12 points as the Pioneers fought hard and outscored Algoma 32-31 in the second half.

For Gibraltar, head coach Travis Ward hopes a breakthrough performance by Liam Lindenberg is the start of other players filling up the stat sheet in support of Braden Sitte. He hit four three-pointers in the second half to spur the run alongside Sitte. The Vikings had chances to tie the game late, but the Bulldogs were able to clamp down to prevent Gibraltar from completing their comeback and taking the matchup 61-56. McMahon led all scorers with 23 points, and Baxter added 22 points for the Bulldogs in their victory. Sitte led the Vikings with 20 points, while Lindenberg's six threes gave him 18 points in a supporting role.

Tim Kowols will have the action on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m.
