Pioneer girls find shooting groove vs. Vikings on 105.1 The GOAT

The Sevastopol Pioneer girls' basketball team hit their shots early and often in their 66-22 win over Gibraltar Friday night in Fish Creek.

Coupled with holding the Vikings scoreless for the first six minutes of the game, the Pioneers were able to jump out to a 21-0 advantage and a 47-10 halftime lead thanks to seven made three-pointers. Kayla Ranly and Libby Ash got out to fast starts as they hit the majority of their points in the first half to dig the Vikings deep in a hole. Andie Schar scored six points late in the half to narrow the gap to 37 before the break.

With a running clock and both teams emptying their bench for much of the second half, they played much closer after the break. Ranly ended her night with a game-high 20 points, while Ash added 19 and Naomi Rikkola contributed 14 points. Andie Schar led the way for the Vikings with 13 points while four other players chipped in with two points.

The Pioneers are already looking ahead to their battle next week against Kewaunee for chance to take a one-game lead in the Packerland Conference.
