Pioneers, Eagles tangle on U-102.1

The Sevastopol and Southern Door girls' basketball teams will meet for the first time this season on Friday night.

 

On Monday night, the Sevastopol Pioneers girls' basketball team was not short on firepower as they beat Two Rivers 58-24. The Pioneers hit six three-pointers in the first half, building a 39-9 advantage at the break. Kayla Ranly did her damage in the first half, scoring 15 of her team-high 22 points in the opening stanza. Naomi Rikkola scored 20 points in the game, 14 of which came in the first half. 

 

In their first conference game of the season, the Eagles went toe to toe with Peshtigo before outscoring them 10-3 in overtime to win 51-44. Payton Gilbertson led the way with 17 points, while Sophia Counard chipped in 13 points as the Eagles won their second straight game.

 

Jacob Nate and Reece Robillard will have the call on U-102.1 beginning at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m. The game will also be streamed on NEWRadioSportsNetwork,com.
