Sevastopol football battles Algoma on U-102.1

The Sevastopol Pioneers football team saved their two closest rivals for the final two weeks beginning Friday night when they host Algoma.

The Pioneers lost their sixth game of the season last week in Suring by a 40-28 score. A 16-0 run in the second quarter all but doomed the Pioneers' chance to get into the game after entering the frame down only 16-14. Logan Schuh played great behind center, throwing for 265 yards and three touchdowns and rushing for 62 yards and a score. The Pioneers' run defense proved to be too porous for the Eagles as Suring rushed for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in their victory.

The Wolves held off a furious rally from Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy to win the game 54-36. Grant Vandervest was a perfect 7-7 throwing the ball while rushing for nearly 200 yards, accumulating three total touchdowns. Issac Yunk crossed the goalline three times and rushed for nearly 120 yards in the win.

Jacob Nate and Reece Robillard will have the call on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening kick at 7 p.m.
