Pioneers softball head to Almond-Bancroft

Defending their regional championship will require a road trip as the Sevastopol softball team heads to Almond-Bancroft.

 

The Sevastopol Pioneers beat the NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Blazers 12-3 in Division 5 WIAA regional softball Tuesday afternoon.  Addison Schauske was the winning pitcher for the Pioneers going 7 strong innings and allowing only 4 hits and 2 earned runs while walking 4 and striking out 11 batters. Leading the hitting attack was Naomi Rikkola 4-4, 2 home runs, 1 triple, 3 runs scored, and 5 RBIs.  Kayla Ranly went 3-4, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, a triple, and two stolen bases. Jolene Luedtke also went 1-2 and Addison Schauske helped her own cause by going 2-4, with a double, home run, and two RBIs.

 

Almond-Bancroft advanced to the regional title game with a 10-0, five-inning win over Tri-County on Tuesday. They come into the matchup splitting their last four matchups after winning 14 of their first 16 games.

 

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
