Pioneers softball battles Blue Devils to split

The Sevastopol Pioneers softball team came back to win game two 13-7 after dropping their first game against the Oconto Blue Devils Monday evening 8-5.

 

In game one, the Pioneers limited the Blue Devils to six hits, but three of them left the yard in the loss. Kayla Ranly, Naomi Rikkola, Alaina Schopf, and Claire Haberli all had two hits with Ranly and Rikkola combining to swipe five bags. Libby Ash took the loss, accumulating two walks and three strikeouts in her night's work.

 

In game two, the Pioneers pounded out 18 hits en route to their six-run victory. Addison Schauske got the win from the circle, allowing five hits and 10 walks, but limited the Blue Devils to just four runs thanks in part to six strikeouts. Schauske also did damage from the plate, going 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Ash went 2-2 with four stolen bases while Johanna Andreae, Jolene Luedtke, and Bailey Rikkola each had three hits. Luedtke set the tone offensively with three RBI.
