Pioneers softball snag home games, doubleheader sweep from Blazers

The Sevastopol Pioneers softball team dismantled NEW Lutheran in a doubleheader sweep, thwarting Mother Nature's attempt to do the same to them.

Monday's rain in Green Bay forced the Packerland Conference to move the games from NEW Lutheran to Institute where the rain was kept at bay. Libby Ash kept the Blazers' batters from getting on base, throwing a no-hitter across five innings and six strikeouts in an 11-0 opening game win. Alaina Schopf led the way offensively, going 2-3 with a double and two runs scored.

The afternoon's second game was almost as impressive with Addison Schauske allowing just one hit across four innings with four strikeouts. The Pioneers went on to win the game 15-0 in four innings with Kayla Ranly, Schauske, Alaina Schopf, and Claire Haberli getting one hit. Ranly earned three walks en route to scoring three runs while Haberli registered three RBI in the win.
