Sevastopol High School

Sevastopol softball travel west to Laona-Wabeno

If the weather allows, the Sevastopol softball team will hit the diamond on Monday to battle Laona-Wabeno.

The Pioneers have covered up a four-game losing skid with a four-game winning streak with sweeps of Sturgeon Bay and Kewaunee. The Pioneers only needed the full seven innings in one of their two games, beating the Storm in both ends of the doubleheader. In the 7-2 win, Libby Ash was the star at the plate and on the mound. She went 2-3 with a run scored while she went the distance toeing the rubber, allowing six hits and striking three. In their 12-2 victory, Ash went all five innings while allowing four hits and no runs. Ash, Claire Haberli, Bailey Rikkola all had two RBI. Rikkola also recently learned that she will represent the school in the high school all-star game this summer.

The Rebels have answered their own four-game losing skid with a three-game winning streak. They topped Three Lakes/Phelps in their last game 7-5.

If Mother Nature allows, the Pioneers will play at Laona beginning at 5 p.m.
