The Sevastopol Pioneers are coming off of a dominant opening performance Tuesday night, as they cruised to a victory over Suring 53-30. They will now shift their focus onto a matchup against Shiocton on Thursday. 

 

Sevastopol opened up with a bang against Suring, doubling up the Eagles in the first half Tuesday night. The Pioneers were led by Bailey and Naomi Rikkola. Bailey led the team in points, scoring 16. Her sister Naomi was not far behind, adding in 15 of her own. Sevastopol and Shiocton met up last season, with the Pioneers taking home the win on the road by a score of 44-36. 

 

This will be Shiocton’s first game of their 2022-2023 campaign, as they are coming off of a 16-11 season last year. The team brings back three of their four top scorers from last season's team that made a trip to the regional finals against conference opponent Bonduel. In the loss to Sevastopol last season, Shiocton let three Pioneers scorers into double figures, as they had none of their own eclipse that mark.
