The Sevastopol Pioneers could not catch the visiting Sturgeon Bay Clippers on Monday, losing 6-1.
Gavin Fernandez got things going in the second inning when he drove in a run on a groundout. Back-to-back hits would help the Clippers take a 3-0 lead in the third inning before the Pioneers got on the board in the bottom half of the inning on a Jack de Young single.
The Clippers would get that run back and then some in the sixth and seventh innings thanks to Kurt Meyer and Emmett combining on RBI hits for the second time in the game.
Chris Lodl earned the win for the Clippers, allowing a run on five hits and striking out four across four innings. Jack de Young took the loss as he allowed seven hits and five runs over six innings.
The Pioneers' next opponent is Roncalli, who are 2-9 on the season and have lost their last three games.
