The Sevastopol Pioneers did not need the full seven inning in either half of its doubleheader sweep of NEW Lutheran Thursday evening in Institute.
In game one, Sevastopol toppled NEW Lutheran 10-0 in six innings. Libby Ash was the winning pitcher, allowing 6 hits. The Pioneers had 14 team hits. Kayla Ranly went 3-4 with 1 double. Sam Differt went 2-4 with a home run. Claire Haberli went 2-4 with 2 doubles, one being a bases-loaded walk-off to end the game. Naomi Rikkola went 2-3 with 1 double.
The Pioneers needed one less inning to score two more runs in their 12-0 win over the Blazers in game two. Addison Schauske was the winning pitcher with 9 strikeouts, allowing only 1 hit in 5 innings. The Pioneers got walked 10 times. Sam Differt went 2-2 with 1 double. The Pioneers host Southern Door Friday at 5 p.m. The Eagles are coming off their own victories over Kewaunee on Thursday.
