Sevastopol High School

Ranly, Pioneers slam past Vikings

The Sevastopol Pioneers had 25 hits and did not allow any in their 29-0 win over Gibraltar in softball action on Monday.

The Pioneers scored 13 runs in the first and third innings to end the game in the minimum  three innings. Kayla Ranly delivered the first inning's first big blow when she hit a grand slam to drive in four of her team-high five RBI. Jolene Luedtke had three triples en route to a five-hit, three-RBI day. Krista Daubner, Libby Ash, Addison Schauske, Teagan Ellefson, and Claire Haberli all had multi-RBI games. Every player that registered an official at-bat collected a hit.

Lost in the offensive output by the Pioneers was Ash and Schauske combining to no-hit the Vikings across three-inning, striking out five along the way.

The Pioneers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face Bonduel. The Bears are a perfect 10-0 on the season including four straight wins last week as they outscored their opponents 50-1. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
