Volleyball: Pioneers looking to stay on fire

It will be the first of two cross-town volleyball matchups when Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol go head-to-head on Thursday evening. The Pioneers are coming to this game heated up with six straight wins after their lone loss in the season opener to Green Bay Preble. The Pioneers have even swept Algoma and Bowler High School this week, and haven’t lost a set since they defeated Gibraltar in five sets on Saturday. Sevastopol comes into the game with a record of 6-1 and in pursuit of their seventh straight win. 

 

The Clippers have had an up and down road since the beginning of the season. Since starting off 2-0, Sturgeon Bay High School is 2-3 in their last five matches. The Clips are coming into Thursday’s contest off of a four-set loss to Southern Door. The Clippers are 4-3 on the season. 

 

As far as common opponents, both teams have suffered losses to Green Bay Preble. Both squads have wins over Gibraltar and Kewaunee. Thursday is the first of two meetings between the two schools. The second is set to take place on April 5th when the Clippers host. Thursday’s match is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 P.M. at Sevastopol High School.
