Sevastopol finishes fifth in state

The Sevastopol Pioneers girls cross country team closed out their 2020 campaign with a fifth-place finish in the WIAA Division 3 State Meet on Saturday.

 

The team scored 160 points, finishing behind state champion Lancaster (93), Ozaukee, Kickapoo/LaFarge, and Gillett.

 

Leading the Pioneers was senior Olivia Stenzel, who saved her best for last as she ran a personal record of 19:36 overall to take seventh overall and second out of scoring runners. Jolene Luedtke finished her freshman campaign with a personal record of her own, running a time of 21:04, shaving approximately 44 seconds off her time. Kylie Newton ran a time of 21:25 to shave off nearly 30 seconds off her best time this season. Bea Dramm followed suit with a time 22:08, which was good for a 60+ second personal record on the season. Rachel Wilke ran 24:00, which was a 57 improvement from sectionals and 21 seconds better then her previous best. LIbby Ash finished her freshman campaign with a time of 24:41 and McKenzie Wiesner's final race was a time of 25:17.
