Sevastopol High School

State meet offers an interesting wrinkle

When the Sevastopol girls cross country team takes the course in West Salem on Saturday afternoon, many of the teams they will be competing against will have already run.

COVID-19 has forced the state meet to divide up by division. Those divisions are then divided into three different sessions for the girls and boys to compete in during the course of the day. The Pioneers will hit the course at 3:30 p.m., by which time eight other teams and three other flights of individual qualifiers would have already ran. Senior Olivia Stenzel is not a stranger to the state meet, but even this is a little unique for her.

Joining Stenzel on the course at Maple Grove Venues in West Salem are Jolene Luedtke, Kylie Newton, Bea Dramm, Libby Ash, McKenzie Wiesner, and Rachel Wilke. They will be joined by Gillett, Ozaukee, and Catholic Memorial.
