For 15 years, the 1991 Sevastopol Volleyball held bragging rights as the last team from the school to end the season as champions.

That streak ended with the girls cross country team winning a title in 2006, but that Pioneers volleyball squad still stands out, especially since it finished runner-up the year before as well. Coached by Cassandra Cibik-Moeller, the Pioneers beat Cuba City to win the Golden Ball, a team they had lost to in 1990 and won the title again in 1992.  In a 2006 Door County Advocate story, hitter turned coach Mary Volkmann said those state teams had four hitters that helped lead them to success during those seasons at state.
