The Sevastopol Pioneers lost one late and couldn't recover in time for the second game as they lost to Sturgeon Bay scores of 4-3 and 14-4.
In game one the Pioneers went into extra innings against the Clippers after taking a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning. An eighth-inning base hit doomed the Pioneers, spoiling great individual efforts by Ethan Kroll (two hits) and pitcher Robby Pollman (6 1/3 innings pitched, six strikeouts).
The hard-fought loss made its way to the second game, though the Pioneers did show some patience at the plate as they tried to rebound after giving up 12 of the 14 runs in the first two innings. Arthur Hocevar and Kroll each drew two walks while Nathan Stenzel was given one free pass.
