Despite Fewer Hits, Southern Door Beats Pioneers

Even though the Pioneers collected ten hits to Southern Door's nine, they still fell 9-3 on Saturday.

 

The Pioneers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Southern Door, giving up nine runs.

 

Southern Door opened up scoring in the second inning scoring one run.

 

The Pioneers knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the third inning, when Jaden Sawyer lined out, driving in a run.

 

Southern Door pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning.

 

Southern Door scored five runs in the fifth inning. Derik Lecaptain, Jeanquart, and Charlie Neines all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

 

Neines pitched Southern Door to victory. He went five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking one. Lecaptain threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Robby Pollman took the loss for Pioneers. He surrendered two runs on three hits over four innings, striking out three.

 

Ethan Kroll led the Pioneers with three hits in four at-bats. Sevastopol tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Josh Pflieger led the way with three.

 

Jeanquart went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Southern Door in hits.
