Former Sevastopol swimmer Max McHugh’s first Big Ten Conference Championships appearance helped him earn freshman of the year honors. McHugh bested a mark set by his brother when he swam a school history making 51.39 in the 100 breast stroke in the preliminary round. During the championships held in Iowa City over the weekend, McHugh was part of a 5^th place finishing 200 yard medley relay team and 3^rd place finishing 400 yard medley relay team. He also finished quite well in his individual events, taking 2^nd place in the 100 yard and 200 yard breaststroke events.
