The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team will travel to Fox Valley Lutheran High School on Thursday, Oct. 29, for a WIAA sectional semifinal matchup against the Foxes.
Two weeks after Oconto Falls denied Luxemburg-Casco a North Eastern Conference championship, the Spartans returned the favor Saturday night, defeating the Panthers 3-1 to capture a WIAA girls volleyball regional championship. After dropping a tight opening set 27-25, the Spartans responded with three consecutive wins, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18, to secure the regional title and improve to 24-15. Aubrey Frey led Luxemburg-Casco with 24 kills, 20 digs and two aces. Claire Schleis added 16 kills, 23 assists, eight digs and three aces, while Stella Schleis recorded 21 assists and seven digs. Ali Jansen contributed 11 kills and nine digs, while Jenna Annoye finished with 18 digs and three aces.
The Spartans will look to carry that momentum into Thursday's matchup against Fox Valley Lutheran, which enters the contest with a 30-4 record. The Foxes have won six straight sets to start the tournament, sweeping Shawano and Notre Dame Academy along the way.
The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
