The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team continues to work towards postseason play with a sixth-place showing at the Neenah Invite on Saturday.
The Spartans started the tournament with a 1-1 record in pool play, beating Appleton East 25-23, 28-26 before losing to Oconomowoc 25-20, 20-25, 12-15. In bracket play, the Spartans beat Manitowoc Lutheran 25-17, 19-25, 15-13 before falling to Fox Valley Lutheran 16-25, 25-21, 13-15.
Leading the way for the Spartans were Claire Schleis (56 assists, 22 kills, 20 digs), Stella Schleis (32 assists, 21 digs), and Aubrey Frey (62 kills, 31 digs).
Head coach Jeff Frey likes where his team is trending heading into the latter stages of the season. "We battled and competed all day against some really good competition," Frey said at the end of play on Saturday. "I’m excited about the growth we are showing; we are starting to play our best volleyball of the season."
