Spartans power past Tigers in soggy NEC win on 104.1 WRLU

Luxemburg Casco outlasted Wrightstown and the elements, for a rain soaked, 24-6 win that was heard on 104.1 WRLU.

The Spartans took the opening possession and worked its way down the field, taking up over 8 minutes of the 1st quarter, but couldn't find the end zone. A botched snap on 4th and goal gave the ball to the Tigers inside their own 5.  Wrightstown would be forced to punt, and the Spartans went down the field again.  Once again though, LC couldn't find pay dirt, as Wyatt Bailey attempted a 30 yard field goal that had the distance but was off line. The Spartans defense came up with another stop, and got a pair of late down conversions to keep the drive going, before Ben Klass got into the end zone on a 6 yard carry late in the second quarter. Luxemburg Casco would take the 7-0 lead into the halftime break.

After a quick stop by the defense to open the half, Eli Derenne connected with Trenton Price for a 32 yard touchdown pass. Another stop by the defense gave Luxemburg Casco an opportunity to extend the lead, doing so on a 27 yard field goal by Wyatt Bailey to go up 17-0.  Wrightstown attempted to put together a comeback, with Logan Kittoe getting the Tigers on the board with a 9 yard score. Lane Ledvina blocked the PAT attempt, keeping the score at 17-6.  Wrightstown attempted an onside kick, but Derenne was able to fall on it. Derenne put the finishing touches on the game with a 48 yard touchdown run with another Bailey PAT kick to put the game away 24-6. The Spartans defense forced one last punt and was able to kneel out the clock.

Luxemburg Casco will look to make it two in a row next week, hosting Seymour in a cross conference matchup for its homecoming game. The Thunder will come in, looking to get back in the win column after a 42-6 thrashing at the hands of Xavier.  We will have that game on 104.1 WRLU.
