The soon-to-be-christened Mike Kline Course of Excellence on the campus of UW-Green Bay will host nearly 40 teams on Thursday as a part of the De Pere Redbirds Invitational at 4 p.m.

 

Algoma, Sevastopol, Luxemburg-Casco, and Southern Door will be among the schools tackling the 5K course on the former Shorewood Golf Course. JV races will be run first before the varsity races take place.

 

Luxemburg-Casco and Algoma each participated in last week's Chief K Invitational. The Wolves' Ellie Reif and Claire Gerdmann each broke 24 minutes on the 5K course to secure 9th and 11th place, respectively, in the 40+ runner field. All four teams won the team titles, and all four races were won by Spartans. Claire Duchateau defended her individual title in the girls' race with a time of 18:54 while Adeline Treml (3rd), Gretta Annoye (6th), and Madison Frank (8th) finished in the Top 10. Ezra Treml posted a comfortable win himself on the boys' side, running a time of just under 16:05 to win the race.

 

Malania Veeser picked up where she left off after her freshman season as Southern Door's cross country teams opened their season at the Two Rivers Invite. Veeser cracked the top 10 and the 20-minute barrier with a 5K time of 19:55 to take sixth place overall in the girls' race. On the boys' side, Colton Valley and Joel Moyer also broke 20 minutes to finish in the Top 60.

 

The Pioneers competed in last Wednesday's Freedom Irish Classic. Landon Sitte paced the boys' squad with a tenth-place finish and a 5K time of 20:50. Axel Tlatempa (22:10), Ryder Ortmayer (23:21), and Aiden Turk (26:07) rounded out the young squad. For the girls, Breiah Newton took second overall with a time of 21:35 in the small school division. Izzy Andreae (27:31.8), Shylee Asher (27:47.4), Olivia Valenzuela (27:55.5), Brennan Rass (29:03.5), Elli Wotachek (31:06.1), and Sydney Peterson (31:18.2) rounded out the senior-laden group.
