Head coach Jeff Frey believes his team will have growing pains, but will be better for them after the Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team went 1-3 in the quadangular hosted by Neenah on Tuesday.

 

The Spartans went the distance in all three matches, losing to Bay Port (25-21, 9-25, 10-15) and Fond du Lac (27-25, 19-25, 11-15) before earning their first win of the day against Pulaski (19-25, 25-17, 15-12). They lost their final match of the day to Neenah (25-22, 19-25, 13-15).

 

Leading the way were Claire Schleis (54 assists, 22 kills, 16 digs), Stella Schleis (38 assists and 15 digs), Aubrey Frey (55 kills, 26 digs, 5 blocks, 7 aces), and Jenna Annoye (31 digs)

 

Frey was disappointed in the results, but was satisfied with the growth shown throughout the day. "We have a lot of work to do to get to where we want and need to be, but I liked how we battled," Frey said. "We have a lot of people new to positions, and there is going to be growing pains, but I loved the fight and grit we showed."

 

The Spartans are back at it this weekend with the Beast of the Northeast Tournament.
