A four-run fourth inning was the difference in a 5-1 win for the Luxemburg-Casco baseball team Thursday evening against the Shawano Hawks.
After Tatem Klaubhauf's double put the Spartans up 1-0 in the third inning, the team sent eight batter to the plate in the fourth inning with Eli Derenne's triple providing the fireworks. A fielder's choice hit by Jacob Coisman, a sacrifice bunt, and an error brought in the other runs. The Hawks rallied in the seventh inning, scoring one run and two others on base before Hudson Billings recorded a strike out to end the game.
Seven different Spartans registered the hits in the victory with Derenne, Coisman, Gavin Lax, and Klaubauf recording the RBI. Lax earned the win on the mound for the Spartans allowing one run (0 ER) on five hits while striking out five across 6.2 innings of work.
The Spartans will play again next Tuesday when they travel to NEC rival Little Chute in the regional semi-final.
