The Luxemburg-Casco softball team struggled to stop the Mosinee Indians in the middle innings of its 10-1 loss on Thursday.
The Spartans struck first in the second inning with their only run of the game Karsyn Walyczyk singled in a run. The Indians would take control of the game from then, scoring four runs in the third and five more in the fourth before capping off their scoring in the sixth inning. The Spartans were outhit 11-6 by the Indians in the loss. Three different pitchers took the circle for the Spartans with Jasmine Jandrin taking the brunt of the damage, allowing nine runs (5 ER) on eight hits while striking out four across four innings.
The Spartans are back in action on Tuesday when they open WIAA Tournament play at home against Marinette, which upset New London 5-4 on the road. Eric Fischer will have the call beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the first pitch at 4:30 p.m. on 104.1 WRLU.
