Two NEC rivals meet in Freedom this afternoon for a doubleheader when the Luxemburg-Casco softball team hits the road to face in the Irish.
In their last action, the Spartans secured a pair of wins on Saturday, holding off New London 6-5 and blowing past Seymour 12-2. In the close 6-5 victory over New London, The Schleis sisters each had two hits and one RBI, though Claire Schleis' RBI came with fireworks with a home run. Riley Westland went 3-4 and one RBI. Grace Jandrin and Karysn Walczyk also posted two-hit performances. In their 12-2 drubbing of the Thunder, Westland had three singles and a double to drive in three runs along with Jandrin and Walczyk. Westland's double was one of five hit on the day by the Spartans which put up at least two runs in four of the six innings that were played, including a five-run fourth inning. Jasmine Jandrin earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs (2 ER) on 10 hits.
The Irish enter the doubleheader 12-8 on the year and 3-3 in their last six game. They suffered lopsided losses to Kimberly (19-0) and Kaukauna (11-1) on either side of their doubleheader sweep of Clintonville (14-4 and 17-8).
First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
