The Luxemburg-Casco softball team could not build on its 1-0 first inning lead on Thursday, eventually losing to Denmark 3-1.
Following a Rylan Kaminski double, Alayna Deprez's single drove in the lone run for the Spartans. The Spartans would only get two more hits the rest of the game with Kaminski ending her day 2-3 while Karsyn Walyczyk registered the other one.
Baylee Wypiszenski did what she could to hold the line, but single tallies for the Vikings in second, third, and sixth innings proved to be too much to overcome. She pitched six of the seven innings, allowing three runs (3 ER) on 12 hits while striking out two. Four Vikings players posted multi-hit days against the Spartans ace, including three hits by Rebekah Dittmer and RBI from Maggie Frank, Shaelyn Kraschnewski, and Hazel Fields.
The Spartans are back in action with a doubleheader against Clintonville on Friday. The Truckers have dropped their last three games as they have stumbled out of the gates with a 3-9 record. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
