Luxemburg-Casco baseball ran into a tough one Tuesday, dropping a 3-0 decision to Little Chute in a game where offense was hard to find on both sides.
Gavin Lax went five innings and kept the Spartans in it, striking out six and walking just one, but Little Chute scratched across three runs on six hits. The Mustangs got on the board in the first on an error and a Jaden Hermsen single, then added one more in the third on a Gerrit Wittman single.
Hermsen was equally locked in on the mound, going five and two-thirds scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Luxemburg-Casco managed just three hits on the day and never really threatened. Wittman and Trevor Verhagen each went 2-for-the-day to lead Little Chute at the plate.
The Spartans get a shot at redemption Thursday when Little Chute comes to town at 4:30.
