The pitching duo of Hudson Billings and Brayden Radart didn’t need much run support — but got plenty in an 8-0 win over Sturgeon Bay on Monday evening.
Billings carried most of the load on the mound, earning the win with six innings of two-hit ball. He walked two and struck out six. Radart finished the game with two strikeouts in a scoreless seventh inning.
The Clippers kept pace early before the Spartans began pulling away in the third. Billings drove in Gavin Lax with a groundout to open the scoring, and RBIs from Bryce Piesler, Tatum Klaubauf, Noah Chervenka and Jacob Coisman helped keep the lineup moving. Chervenka had two of the Spartans’ seven hits.
Elisha Baumann and Ethan Kratcha recorded the only hits for the Clippers. Siggy Hansen took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six over four innings.
The Spartans are scheduled to host Marinette on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., field conditions permitting.
