Spartans softball pounds Comets late

A tight game through four innings turned into a laugher late as the Luxemburg-Casco softball team earned the 9-1 win over NEC rival Waupaca.

The Comets struck first in the opening frame and held the lead until the Spartans took advantage of an error to score their first run. Rylan Kaminski's bases-clearing double in the fifth inning broke the deadlock as the Spartans scored eight unanswered runs to end the game.

The Spartans were outhit 6-5 but were the beneficiary of seven walks and three Comets errors. Kaminski paced the offense with three RBI on one hit. Jasmine Jandrin earned the win in the circle, allowing two hits while striking out two across the final three innings.
