Luxemburg-Casco 144-pound wrestler Carson Neubert knows there is a target on his back, but he's not running away from it.
Neubert won a state championship at 126 pounds last year with a record of 51-1, a loss that occurred to a non-Wisconsinite. He will enter the Kohl Center under similar circumstances with a 50-1 record with his one defeat coming against a different non-Wisconsinite. Stepping onto the mat as a defending state champion has been more privlege than pressure for Neubert
Improving and winning state championships is not the only thing that is keeping Neubert motivated as his high school career is on the doorstep of its final year. Neubert is eyeing a state record before his days as a Spartan are over.
Neubert will open the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament with a bye, but will still wrestling later in the day on Thursday. You can listen to our interview with Neubert and replays of our other interviews with some of the area's other state qualifiers on the latest episode of the Kewaunee County Wrestling Podcast sponsored by Total Dairy Service.
