Spartans girls take down Wolves

The Luxemburg-Casco girls basketball team clamped down on Algoma and got timely shooting from Brianna Bray as they went on to win the game 45-27.

The Spartans jumped out to a 29-15 halftime lead behind five first-half three-pointers, three of which coming from Bray. She would add on two more from behind the arc en route to a 23-point evening to lead all scorers. Alana Mrotek and Chloe Host each chipped in six points in the win. For the Wolves, Claire Gerdmann scored seven first-half points, but was held to just a free throw in the second half as she matched Jadyn Nellis for a team-high eight points. Theresa Gerdmann added six points and Sadie Rikkola pitched in five points in the Wolves' loss.

Both teams are out of action until December 30th when the Spartans battle Pulaski at home at 5:30 p.m. while the Wolves travel to Freedom for a 7 p.m. tip.
