The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team ended its weekend with several players being named to the All-Northeastern Conference team and getting breakfast plans for Friday.
The Spartans had four players earn All-NEC honors as a part of a competitive league that will see two entries in this weekend's WIAA State Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Outside Hitter Aubrey Frey was an unanimous First-Team selection and Alayna Deprez was also named to the top squad as a setter. Right-side hitter Claire Schleis and Libero Rylan Kaminski were named to the Second-Team.
The Spartans will open their second consecutive state run on Friday at 10:30 a.m. as the fourth-seed. They will play top-seeded Sauk Prairie with a chance to play either Grafton or NEC rival Waupaca. The Spartans earned their spot after sweeping Xavier in the Division 2 Sectional Final Saturday (25-14, 25-21, 29-27). Deprez fueled the Spartans’ offense with 29 assists and 12 digs, while Frey recorded 17 kills and 10 digs. Schleis added 14 kills, and Kaminski anchored the back row with 16 digs.
