The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team is one win away from another trip to Green Bay after beating Fox Valley Lutheran 3-1 (28-26, 25-14, 22-25, 25-21) on the road Thursday night.
Leading the way for the Spartans were Alayna Deprez (43 assists, 7 digs, 3 blocks), Aubrey Frey (31 kills, 10 digs, 2 blocks, 2 aces), Claire Schleis (8 kills, 2 aces), Ali Jansen (8 kills), and Rylan Kaminski (15 digs, 4 aces).
Head coach Jeff Frey complimented his opponents while pointing out that the key to the great battle occurred late in the first set when they were down 24-22 before coming back to win it 28-26. "The first set was the key, felt like we were in control the whole set and then at the end we were down 22-24," Frey said. "To comeback and win 28-26 was huge. Proud of our girls, we talked about being on the hunt and playing fearless and I thought we did that."
The Spartans will meet Xavier at Seymour for a chance to make it to the state tournament at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
