Luxemburg Casco will have a chance to avenge last year’s season ending loss on Friday night, when the #3 seed Spartans travel to #2 seed Plymouth to face the Panthers on 104.1 WRLU.
A slow start had the Spartans down 21-7 at halftime last week in Level 1 of the WIAA playoffs. That is, before an incredible comeback led by seniors Cameron Dorner and Brayden Loritz, among many others, opened the 3rd quarter with 14 unanswered points to tie the game. Fox Valley Lutheran answered, grabbing the lead back at 28-21, just for the Spartans to score 14 unanswered points again, taking the lead late in the 4th. The Foxes weren’t done, scoring a touchdown and converting the 2 point conversion to grab a 36-35 lead with just 0:57. Luxemburg Casco put together a drive, marching down the field before Wyatt Bailey hit a 24 yard field goal with 0:09 left to give LC the advantage, and ultimately the win. Dorner’s 164 yards and 3 touchdowns led the way for the Spartans.
Plymouth fared considerably easier against Marinette in Level 1 last week, defeating the Marines 42-14, after grabbing a 28-0 lead after the 1st quarter. The Panthers extended the lead prior to halftime, ensuring the running clock for the remainder of the contest. Senior running back Deven Miller racked up 165 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding to an impressive season that has seen him tally 1,437 yards and 25 touchdowns. Miller scored the final 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter of last year’s contest, en route to a 49-21 win.
Eric Fischer and Ramsay Thompson will be on the call from Plymouth, with the pregame show starting at 6:45, and kickoff at 7:00 pm on 104.1 WRLU and NewRadioSports.com
