Luxemburg Casco’s journey to Camp Randall begins Friday night, when the 3 seeded Spartans host the 6 seeded Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes, and it will be heard on 104.1 WRLU.
The Spartans will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping its last two contests to Little Chute and Freedom, respectively. In last week’s game against Freedom, Luxemburg Casco got out to a 14-7 lead before the Irish stormed back to grab the lead at the end of the first half, and extend that lead throughout the second.
The Spartans regular season came to an end with Eli Derenne throwing for 1,325 yards, and 16 touchdowns, with an additional 261 rushing yards and 3 touchdown carries. Mason Trimberger led the receiving group with 609 yards and 7 touchdowns, followed by Tatem Klaubauf with 430 yards and 6 touchdowns. On the ground, Cam Dorner led the team with 568 yards and 5 touchdowns, with Brayden Loritz carrying for 534 yards and 11 scores.
Fox Valley Lutheran comes into the postseason with a 6-3 record while going 4-3 in Bay Conference play. One of those losses did come to Freedom in cross-conference action, a 28-17 defeat. The Foxes tote very similar numbers, with a balanced attack through the air and on the ground. FVL quarterback Gabe Heiges threw for 1,296 yards and 22 touchdowns, while rushing for 377 yards and 7 touchdowns. Running back Blessings Kapande ran for 563 yards and 6 scores. Jacoby Dobberstein led the receiving group with 689 yards and 9 touchdowns.
