Spartans trample Purple Raiders on 104.1 WRLU

The streak continues for Luxemburg-Casco, as the Spartans cruised past Two Rivers by a 35-7 score, as heard on 104.1 WRLU.

Luxemburg Casco was held out of the end zone on their first possession and saw Two Rivers march down the field before being turned away on downs to open the game.  The Spartans responded with a quick score, as Brayden Loritz took a keeper 57 yards, giving Luxemburg Casco the early 6-0 lead. Jacob Walton hit his field goal attempt, part of a 5-5 night.  The Spartans ended the quarter with a 7-0 lead, but with 1st and goal on the 1-yard line.  Unfortunately, the Spartans were turned away, and the drive stalled out with an Eli Derenne interception.  The teams traded possessions until the late part of the 2nd quarter, when Loritz scored again in the final minute, this time from 1 yard out.  Luxemburg-Casco took the 14-0 lead into halftime.

After another defensive stop to open the 3rd, the Spartans took over from their own 20 following a touchback on the Purple Raiders' punt.  On the first play from scrimmage for LC, Derenne connected with Tatem Klaubauf for an 80-yard touchdown, with the ensuing PAT kick making the score 21-0.  After another defensive stop led to another Two Rivers punt, deep in their own territory once again, the Spartans scored on another long play, this time an 86-yard touchdown by Cam Dorner.  Luxemburg-Casco led 28-0 going into the final quarter and scored its final points on a Mason Trimberger pick-six, going up 35-0, which brought a running clock for the remainder of the game.  Two Rivers would add a late score on the Spartans' reserves, a Noah Shilcox touchdown run, bringing the score to 35-7.  Luxemburg Casco milked the remaining clock to lock down the win.

Luxemburg-Casco will return home next Thursday, when it hosts Little Chute for Homecoming and Senior Night.  We’ll have the coverage of that game on 104.1 WRLU.
