Luxemburg-Casco, the defending 2024 tournament champions after going a perfect 7-0 last season, turned in another strong showing in 2025, finishing 10th out of 32 teams with a 5-2 record across the two-day event. On Friday in pool play, the Spartans picked up wins over Kaukauna (25-23, 25-15), Randolph (25-10, 25-10), and Kewaskum (25-12, 19-25, 15-10). Saturday’s bracket play saw them fall to New Berlin West (25-16, 17-25, 12-15), before bouncing back with victories over Waupaca (28-26, 26-24) and Freedom (25-16, 25-17). They closed the weekend with a hard-fought loss to Oconto Falls (25-16, 20-25, 10-15).
The Spartans were led by Alayna Deprez (167 assists, 47 digs), Aubrey Frey (86 kills, 44 digs), and Rylan Kaminski (71 digs, 12 aces).
Head coach Jeff Frey reflected on the team’s performance: “It was a good weekend. We did a lot of good things, and did some things that we need to continue to improve on. That’s what these early season tournaments are about, learning and growing as players and as a team. I like the direction we are moving in.”
