Spartans derail Truckers on 104.1 WRLU

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans started slowly but finished strong, winning 63-55 over the Clintonville Truckers Friday night in Luxemburg.

After a close back-and-forth start which saw the score tied at 11-11, Clintonville opened up an 11-point lead with four minutes left in the half.  The Spartans responded by making a run capped with a three-pointer by Josh Parin to cut the Truckers’ lead to 30-26 at intermission.

Luxemburg-Casco came out of halftime and scored the first six points to take their first lead of the game at 32-30.

Using stingy zone defense in the second half, the Spartans controlled the game, hit some key free throws, and hung on for the win.  Parins hit a three-pointer to give the Spartans an eight-point lead midway through the second half.

Sophomore Jacob Coisman had a career night for the Spartans, scoring 27 points, 16 of which came in the second half. Parins finished with 11 points and three three-pointers.

Luxemburg-Casco (3-8, 4-12) will now battle the Little Chute Mustangs on Tuesday in NEC action.

The next broadcast on 104.1 WRLU will be Tuesday night as the Lady Spartans host the Little Chute Mustangs at 7:00 p.m.  Paul Schmitt will have the call with the pre-game show starting at 6:45 p.m. and streamed on NEW Radio Sports Network.
