A tightly contested game went against the Luxemburg-Casco girls basketball team on Thursday night as they lost to Valders 48-42 in its season opener.

The Spartans' three-point shooting kept things closer, but they still found themselves climbing uphill at the break by a 30-21 margin. They would not get much closer the rest of the game despite hitting three of their seven three-pointers after the break. Sienna Blohowiak scored 12 points and Brianna Bray added 11 in the loss for the Spartans. Megan Hochkammer scored a game-high 15 points for the Vikings.
