The Luxemburg-Casco volleyball team added more hardware to its trophy case on Saturday night, sweeping Notre Dame Academy 3-0 to win the WIAA Regional Title.

 

The Spartans never allowed the Tritons to get close, dropping the sets 25-19, 25-6, 25-14. Leading the way for the Spartans were Alayna Deprez (28 assists and 13 digs), Aubrey Frey (15 kills and 18 digs), Ella Vander Velden (12 kills, ten digs, and two aces), Claire Schleis (9 kills and two aces), and Rylan Kaminski (22 digs and four aces).

 

Head coach Jeff Frey expressed his pride in the team after the match, saying that they played as one. "We came out ready to play tonight. It started on the defensive side of the ball. We were scrappy, and that filtered into our offense, and we just got rolling."

 

The Spartans are slated to face NEC rival Freedom in the sectional semi-final on Halloween. The Irish clinched their spot in the match by beating the higher seeded Fox Valley Lutheran in four sets (20-25, 25-17, 28-25, 25-17).
