Spartans run over Purple Raiders on 104.1 WRLU

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans dominated the Two Rivers Purple Raiders 47-13 in a North Eastern Conference football game Friday night.

The Spartans rushed for seven touchdowns, and the Luxemburg-Casco defense limited the Purple Raiders' offense while forcing two turnovers in the first half. Joey Janquart intercepted a pass near midfield, and Andrew Klass forced a fumble, recovered it, and returned it to the three-yard line, setting up two scores in the second quarter.

Cam Dorner had a huge game, scoring from 25, 38, and 49 yards out to lead the Spartan ground game.  Landon Derenne scored on two runs, a five-yard scramble late in the first half, and a 68-yard gallop down the sidelines in the third quarter.

Brayden Loritz also scored two touchdowns on runs of 13 yards and 36 yards as the Spartan offense exploded for more than 300 rushing yards.

With the win, the Spartans (4-1, 4-3 overall) are now playoff-eligible and will travel to play the Little Chute Mustangs next Thursday in the "Battle of the L-Cs" in an NEC showdown.

The pregame is set for 6:45 p.m. on 104.1 WRLU, and the kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Paul Schmitt and Eric Fischer will provide the play-by-play, which will also be streamed on New Radio Sports Network.
