Spartan football opens against Seymour on 104.1 WRLU Friday

After an incredible state run last year in Division 4 football, the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans will open the 2024 campaign on the road in Seymour to take on the Thunder in non-conference action Friday night.

The Spartans, champions of the NEC, finished 12-2 last year while the Thunder of the Bay Conference were 3-7.  Falling to the Lodi Blue Devils 38-14 in the state finals last November, the Spartans will be looking to replace the 15 seniors on the roster who have graduated.

Luxemburg-Casco Head Coach Neil Seering says many of the incoming seniors will need to step up in leadership roles as the team tries to manage early season injuries.

Senior Landon Derenne will get the call at starting quarterback and senior running back Andrew Klass will get the nod in the starting backfield as the Spartans look to pull off the road win.

The season will kick off from Seymour High School  at 7 p.m. Friday with the pregame show starting at 7:15 p.m. with Paul Schmitt on 104.1 WRLU and streamed NewRadioSportsNetwork.com.
