Spartans nip Seymour, then shutout Southern Door Tuesday

Luxemburg-Casco defeated Seymour 3-2 in the first of two games played on Tuesday in Luxemburg and then shutout the Southern Door Eagles 10-0 in the nightcap.

Seymour scored in the first inning after an error scored one run.  A double by Grace Kahr gave Luxemburg the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth.  The Spartans knocked another run across the plate in the bottom on the fifth.  The Thunder were able to close the gap to one in the top of the sixth, but Wypiszenski recorded three consecutive outs to seal the victory for the Spartans in the top of the seventh.

Kate VanEss started the game and recorded the first six outs.  Baylee Wypiszenski earned the win for the Spartans.  She surrendered two hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking two.

In the nightcap, the Spartans topped Southern Door 10-0 in six innings. Luxemburg will return to the diamond on Thursday as they travel to Waupaca to take on the Comets.
